Cape Coral History

The Rosen brothers build Cape Coral almost 40 years ago based on its fantastic location and year-round warm weather. A unique canal structure was used during the original platting and resulted in almost 400 miles of commutable waterway within the 114 square-mile City. Cape Coral is waterfront living at its absolute best! Attracting residents to this sunny paradise proved successful when almost every single lot - totalling 350,000 - were sold to new residents even if they were only for vacation or summertime living. Incorporating in 1970 with 150,000 residents, and it has since become the second largest geographic city in the entire state of Florida.
